Bearden High School has a proud tradition of excellent baseball. The Bulldogs will field a Varsity and Junior Varsity team in the Spring of 2012. Head Coach Jack Tate will be assisted by James McHardy, Buddy Wilker, Matt Hurley, and Adam Dyer.
The Bearden Varsity team will play another challenging schedule this Spring. The Varsity Dogs will play in two of the top tournaments in the nation, the Kesslers Classic (Knoxville) and the Baseball Fever Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In addition, Bearden will play defending state Class AAA champion Farragut, Elder (Cincinnati, Ohio), Sevier County, Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett, Jefferson County, Morristown East, Central, and the other outstanding programs in District 4-AAA such as Catholic, West, Maryville, William Blount, Heritage, and Lenoir City.
The Bearden baseball program currently has numerous graduates playing collegiate baseball at such schools as the University of Tennessee, MTSU, ETSU, Lincoln Memorial, Roane State, Maryville College, Tusculum, and Walters State. We are also proud to have two Bearden grads in pro ball at this time, Brett Carroll and Justin Miller.
Two ex-Bearden baseball players are now head coaches in the area: Adam Sullivan (Catholic) and Brad Collette (Campbell County).
The 2012 Bearden Varsity will be led by Captains Derek Lance and Trey York. The Dogs outstanding Senior Class also includes Zach Sale, Ronnie Broyles, Tyler Hill, Neil Gore, Kyle Wentz, and Charlie Bain.
